Lawns and hosepipes
Today’s joy was derived mainly from feeling the sun on my back this morning while mowing the lawn and other gardening delights at the villa in Boliqueime where I still have a part-time job, which I do not really need, but I do enjoy.
It was with a sense of liberation after being cooped up all winter that I went about my task in the smallest vest I could decently get away with. I ended the session with watering, and realised that I will probably never ever lose the childhood delight which comes from wielding a hosepipe.
And yes, dear cousins, I drank water from the hosepipe – and it still tastes just as good as it did back then!
I spent the rest of the day accepting translation assignments, and after an invigorating shower, settled down to some real work. It is amazing what four successive days of sunshine can do to lift one’s spirits. I gather from business correspondence that it was less sunny today in Krakow than in the Algarve, with its beautiful blue sky.
