Day 19: smidgins of joy
Smidgins of joy taste like Italian tomatoes.
I have been picking my Italian tomatoes as they ripen and putting them in the fridge until I have a decent quantity to make jam.
Jam making will be occurring a few days later than planned. While chopping up a couple of the smaller ones for tomato rice this evening, I ate some raw. It was with wicked delight that I then ate three Italian tomatoes one after the other.
Bear in mind that this involved opening the fridge door threes times, slicing the tomato each time, and then slowly savouring it. They are delicious!

The sense of indulgence was all the more intense, since I seldom eat tomatoes. They bring on gout and cramp. So, for the last five years, I have mostly avoided them.
I might feel sorry tomorrow, but I am not sorry now. Succumbing to temptation, however small, is the sweetest joy there is.
I reached an important phase in a big revision project day. Fatigue and Italian tomatoes go well together, but I can think of other combinations for the latter!
