Flagging a quip

~Sources of Joy ~ Day 212

I have been fighting with my text today, but then I remembered what someone else once said – as one does, and felt so much better for it.

Anna Haxen, a Danish to English translator, thought what she had to say in a forum one day was pretty unremarkable, but gave me written permission quite a while ago to quote it on my blog. It disappeared when I upgraded my blog theme. I have now placed it back on my sidebar:

“I do not fight with my texts. I just manipulate them until I get my way.”

Inspiration today did not come from the lunch the meals on wheels ladies brought João. Nor did it come from the men wielding a chain saw on the property behind us; they have felled trees, and now we have a prime view of what is a rather ugly house. It will still be ugly when they have finished all their refurbishments and painted it. That’s my opinion which, obviously, I shall keep to myself. 😉

Inspiration came in the form of avenues. Avenues of thought to be followed, researched and revised. Deep thoughts – the kind which wallow in the depths then unexpectedly one day, ripen, and surge upward unable to be contained any longer in something as small as a human brain.

Good. That’ll keep me busy. Seeing as I am merely twiddling my thumbs at the moment, and all. Ha!

Even in the remotest corners of the British Commonwealth one finds more cheerful Union Jacks. This one comes from Faversham, Kent, England.
